CHURCH OF SAINT GEORGE
Unlike in many towns and villages, the main church in Kopanaki is not in the main square but in a more residential area close to the school. Like many churches in Greece, it venerates the Christian military saint, Saint George and an image of George slaying a dragon crowns its entrance.
A postwar construction with an integral bell tower, it has a gated courtyard equipped for the convenience of its congregation. There is a fountain, a stone gazebo (which, judging by the size of the table and the absence of seats, is used to shade coffins from the sun) - even a wastebin and a toilet.
