FROM KOPANAKI
To get to The Ark in Ancient Phigaleia from Kopanaki involves crossing the Neda river, the only Greek river with a female name (in honour of the nymph Neda, a water diety). The Neda flows through a deep gorge so be prepared for a steep descent followed by an even steeper ascent with some challenging hairpin bends on the other side.
But also look forward to some really impressive scenery and unusual sights, like a hunter on the look out for wild boar or a tortoise following the road markings to Ancient Phigaleia.
